Paul C. Buff began White Lightning™ in 1982,
and has since stirred up a revolution in the professional lighting industry with a powerful, innovative product and his original concept of complete customer care. Actively involved in every aspect of the company, Paul continues to make his vision our reality through creative design, persistent attention, and unmatched dedication.
A native Californian, Paul first acquired his electronics experience in the Marine Corps. As the Aviation Radio Technician, his affection for electronics and the arts was amplified. He went on to open a recording studio in Cucamonga, and quickly became renowned in the Music Business and Audio Engineering fields for his development and marketing of high tech recording equipment, as a producer/engineer for four Top 40 gold records, and as a multi-talented musician.
But in 1982, Paul turned his attention and electronics experience to
photography and lighting, and more specifically to the design of
photoflash systems. Targeting advanced amateurs and entry-level
professional photographers, he was able to develop a more streamlined, consumer-oriented piece of equipment which caught on quickly. Throughout the years, Paul has gone on to develop the White Lightning™ 5,000 and 10,000 Series, the Ultra Series, the UltraZAP Series and the X-Series monolights, which offer a combination of power, enhanced features and dependable performance. By offering his products factory-direct to the customer, and by establishing new meaning for the words "customer service and satisfaction," Paul has taken his company and made it one of the most envied and imitated in the industry.
In 2004, Paul and his wife, Deborah, launched the Different Strokes Art Gallery in Nashville, Tennessee. Different Strokes offers unique and adventurous original works, including Paul’s newest series of his own art, personalizing the giclee medium to create colorful, inventive, modern art. In addition to being an artist and inventor, Paul has recently stretched his creative wings becoming an author and publisher as well. With GoGo Press, Paul's publishing company, he is proudly releasing his first book, The River: Book One. The first of a trilogy, The River: Book One is a non-religious alternative to Adam and Eve. With fine art full color illustrations, The River presents a story of one man, Mada, and his journey to discover his purpose and responsibilities in a constantly changing world.
